21 India Street

21 India Street sits at the northern edge of the Greenpoint waterfront, on a site that had previously been addressed as 10 Huron Street before construction began. The tower, marketed as The Greenpoint, was designed by Ismael Leyva Architects and developed by Mack Real Estate Group and Palin Enterprises, with construction reported underway by 2016 and the glass, steel and brick facade substantially complete by 2017. It was one of the first towers to rise as part of the broader Greenpoint Landing waterfront rezoning, a roughly 22-acre former industrial and rail-yard site slated for more than 5,500 new residential units.

The building's structure combines a 40-story tower with a shorter 5-story component. Per New York YIMBY's 2016 reporting, the tower portion splits between 287 rental apartments on the lower floors and 95 condominiums occupying floors 28 through 40 (marketing floor numbers run one higher than the official Department of Buildings count), while the separate 5-story building holds 81 additional rental units. Sales and marketing for the condominiums was handled by Corcoran Sunshine.

At 392 feet, The Greenpoint became one of the tallest buildings in Greenpoint, offering direct Manhattan skyline and East River views. When it opened for occupancy in late 2019, the building unveiled a 20-foot-tall bronze sculpture titled 'Waiting' by Brooklyn-based artist Brian Donnelly (KAWS), installed next to the building's porte cochere across from the East River ferry terminal. The New York Times reported in 2019 that 63 of the condominium units had sold at that point, at a median price of roughly $1.54 million.
